Found in just one place on earth, the hills of Merelani in northern Tanzania.  Because crystals show different colors depending on viewing direction, cutters can choose bluish purple or the more favored pure blue or violetish blue hue depending on how much weight they want to retain from the rough. Tilt tanzanite and you’ll see three distinct colors in three crystal directions.

A square cushion shape 3.56 Carat, Natural Tanzanite with even color distribution is delicately set with four double claw prongs in the center of this platinum ring. Seventy round diamonds form a halo perimeter and cascade down the split upper shank of this magnificent ring.
